Our community is a small, quiet, rural area located just outside Cave-in-Rock, IL. The town itself has a population of about 220 people, while Hardin County as a whole has around 3,600 residents, making it the least populated county in Illinois.
Despite its small size, Hardin County attracts many visitors each year due to its proximity to local attractions such as Garden of the Gods, Cave-in-Rock State Park, Rim Rock Recreational Area, and the Shawnee National Forest.
For everyday needs, the county has a small local grocery store in Rosiclare, as well as a Dollar General, two gas stations ,convenience stores, some local eateries, and even ice cream and gift shops all of which are outlined in this guide. We recommend stopping for groceries before you arrive, as the nearest major chain stores, like Kroger and Walmart, are in Harrisburg, IL, approximately 35 miles away.
